Malawi Can be a Noisy Place

I had the great privilege of visiting one of the members of our church yesterday. He is a young man who is having a problem with his foot and has been home for about a week straight. Being home in Malawi is not exactly an exciting proposition. There is no entertainment, no air conditioning, none of the things you would expect from the comforts of home. There is no fridge full of food or closet full of snacks. It’s you, the walls, the ceilings and the floors, and the noise. Kids are playing in the house, around the house, on top of the house; neighbors assume everyone in the relative vicinity wants to hear their music. Some child is always crying. Nothing that happens here in Malawi seems to happen quietly.

As I was sitting in this man’s house, I wondered to myself if there was any peace to be found in his life. It was hard to imagine there would be. But, I thought about home, too, and asked the same question. In this case, by “peace” I mean finding a quiet place and being there for long enough to get past the noise constantly racing through our heads. I think this is a peace that’s hard to find. It’s the eternal state of being that has been extolled by sages and masters of old-inner peace. A mindful state where nothing, not even the most noisy external environment, can possibly disturb you. It has been said time and again that mindfulness brings one’s attention to to whatever is occurring at the moment, externally and internally, which is one of the first gateways to true peace. But establishing that mindfulness as a continuous state of mind? That is quite the task indeed, especially in today’s world. Meditation helps bring mindfulness, definitely, but with practice and patience.

Some people will try and find this peace in various ways, which can be from using cannabis-based products with websites like Organic CBD Nugs, for example, as well as tapping into meditation practices which I will talk a bit more about below. There is more to peace than finding a quiet place and spending time there. This is what separates me from a Zen Buddhist or from others that practice meditation as an art form. In meditation, I am seeking a living God and a real relationship with Him. I’m seeking peace that passes understanding. It passes anxiety and fear, and the best part is I’m guaranteed to find it. God makes me a promise: if I seek Him, I will find Him.

That is one of the reasons I enjoy meditation and yoga so much. It allows you to develop your own ideas about peace and life. In fact, it doesn’t even require any extra efforts like hitting the gym buying sports shoes for running. All you need to do is probably buy some comfortable women’s/men’s t-shirts and begin practicing meditation and yoga. The relaxed attire might not distract you during the session. These may even assist you with the various yoga poses, allowing you to stretch your body even further and perform them more effectively.

I do not know but I may be different from others who take up the spiritual route just for the sake of it. I was wondering if, in the future, I can become a yoga teacher. Maybe I can! Those who are optimistic about life often say that it is easy to become a yoga teacher and inspire others. However, for that, one might have to take up an online yoga certification course from reputed Yoga schools and stick to it without any dilemma. Many often believe that the route to spiritualism is tough and that is why those who opt for it need to stick to it adamantly. I do not know whether I have such determination but there is nothing wrong to give it a try, is there?

Anyway, I think I have talked too much about spiritualism. I think I should share some pictures now. Here are some of them that I took on the way…
